Red water coolers or rechillers are specially designed equipment for the poultry industry, they supply water constantly at 32°F to the chiller, obtaining adequate cooling and hydration of the birds. This equpment works mainly with ammonia (it can also operates with freon). The cooling system is supplied with Vilter compressor, Bauer condenser, special valves and Alfrio’s engineering.
The cooling capacity ranges from 40 TR to 300 TR, and the water flow ranges from 400 to 1000 gpm. This is the most efficient and reliable system on the market for poultry chilling (chicken, turkey, hen).

Red waters cooling systems (water with blood and fat of the bird) provide a constant and homogeneous water temperature inside the chiller, managing to reduce the temperature of the birds in a uniform way during their journey.
Water cooling is cheaper than producing ice, so the energy consumption of red water coolers is lower when compared to ice making.
Birds cooling can also be achieved with the addition of ice to the chiller, and although it works it is not easy to achieve a homogeneous temperature of the water. When cooling is done only with ice, a refrigerated room must be contemplated for its storage and labor for the movement of it into the chiller. A red water cooler does not require storage places or additional labor that can be used in other processes of the plant.
